Refund on car purchase?

    I was buying a car and put a deposit of E1,500 on the car ....however the next day I lost my job.

    The garage refused to return my deposit and told me I would have to buy a cheaper car rather than lose my deposit.

    I put E2750 towards the deposit and bought a car for little over E4k, within 2 weeks of getting the car the suspension went.

    The garage are saying they only have to give me back E2750 and not the E1250 as that was originally a deposit off the higher priced car I did not buy.....

    Surely I am entitled to the full amount back....

    Any advice as this garage is very nasty

    Tricky one, as it always is with used cars.

    I'd try and speak to someone in FLAC (google it) and see what they suggest. The issue with used cars is it's minefield of whether or not they are selling cars in the course of business, if they are what is reasonable for any given car they sell in relation to faults and the fact that they seem to be able to dodge enforcement quite easily.
