Hiya all. Been asked to help with lambing nd been offered €50/60 for day/night. Does that seem a fair enough price? Maybe the odd pet lamb too...

Not quite sure 50 or 100. Had bad migraine...think he also said summat about 500, but I think that was what he was doing!
What does it matter if it's 50 or 500, or is the rate relative to ewes lambed? Eg per ewe....

Well not really if you were going into a flock of 500 Belclare Ewes scanned at 2.4 with triplets and quins, I wouldn't do it for gods money, whereas a flock of Speckled Face ewes scanned 1.8 is totally different - the Belclares could have an extra 250 lambs to deal with (I am not a fan of them - it's just an example), the duration of lambing also matters - when did the rams come out as well as the sires used, plus what are his facilities like - will you and the ewes be as comfortable as possible.

    Future Farmer. Why don't you like Belclare's? I don't know them...are they bad lamber's/mother's?
I think he said most have been sponged, so no real suprise's! Do you think the rate vs experience gained is good enough? As said not a complete novice, nd looking at some post's think I could've helped with the basics. ...
