    Hi everyone,
Does most employers usually reimburse the additional cost to employees to get Class 2 Employer indemnity on their car insurance??

In my new job Ive had someone approach me to claim back the €65 for extra cost re indemnity but previously I have always had to pay this myself when I worked elsewhere.

I know this is needed in order to claim expenses but why would an employer pay for indemnity to allow people to claim expenses ? We are paying out for their cover and paying out on their expenses.. I dont understand

Im not clear on who actually is meant to cover this cost.
    Help anjd clarity welcomed

IME mileage payments are meant to cover the costs associated with using your car for work, e.g. the wear and tear, fuel, tax, your occasional business use insurance, etc. I've never come across an employer who paid the cost of the insurance separately.

Thanks Griffin100. I thought as much. My previous employers have never paid it but somehow in my new job- there has been a Precedent set by paying it before. Im hoping to go back to the team and agree to pay it this year but thats it- going forward then they will have to be responsible for their own.
