    Hello,

Need to get rid of my car - has anyone used scrapmycar.ie ? Want to ensure they're legit and the car doesn't end up back on the road (though unlikely, 00 Golf IV that decided to cannibalise itself).

    Thanks!

    Define cannibalise? :pac:

00 golf iv is probably worth a few bob for parts, why not stick it on done deal for a few hundred and see how it goes.

Is there a specific reason it shouldn't see road again??

Well it the engine essentially decided to eat itself :) The car was bought 2/3 years ago 1600e and it was estimated to cost around a grand to get & drop a new engine in.

According to the RCA: "Auxiliary belt shredded + looked to have gone around timing gear/belt. No compression & suspected valve damage".

Flog it as a car in need of repair. Someone will buy it...

Once you post of the log book, it shouldn't matter if someone is mad enough to put it back on the road.

Thanks both - will look into that option.

Anyone else use the above company? Thanks!

I needed to get rid of two cars a merc and a opel a few years ago phoned them and I don't think they were offering any money. I contacted Traynors Car Dismantlers up north he came down to Drogheda paid in sterling and took the cars away.

    Shey.
