Ryanair - waiting for new passport/online check in Q

    Hi
I am flying to UK from Dub on Weds AM. The 10 day passport xpress service has failed me so far (cant get through to passport office - TD on the case). I am hoping to get the passport tomorrow afternoon, but just in case, I was told by one travel agent (as I cant get through to Ryanair) that I dnt need a passport, just a drivers licence. But when I go to check in online, It insists I have an in date passport.

So, should the PP not turn up on time, what do I do?

yes true....but if they (Ryan air on webstie) are saying a drivers licence will suffice.....how do I get around it when checking in online?

Where does it say this on Ryanair' website?

Ryanair don't say this - they insist on a passport for any international flight.

If it doesn;t show up tomorrow, your only option is Ferry or another airline. Or stay at home.

Everything I don't like is either woke or fascist - possibly both - pick one.

they say it under their FAqs re travel docs, but yes only for Domestic Flights, not INternational Flights. Travel agent said Ireland to UK is Domestic and they are more relaxed about it now than they were. But it sounds like from your experience, this isnt the case. So I am buggered basically. Unless I go nuts at the passport office tomorrow. Guess I will have to do that.

Hey, I had to get a new passport around Christmas. It took around 9 working days I think. Did you take the barcode sticker from the form? That's a tracking number which you can use to see the status of the application?

Legally, you don't need a passport for the UK. Photo ID is enough. However Ryanair t&c's accept passports and nothing else! Sorry to hear you're stuck. You should get sorted tomorrow if you go to the passport office and prepare to be patient and sit there for a while!

Would not be my choice of travel agent.

That will get you nowhere. The people in the passport office are doing a job, it's not their fault people leave passport applications to the last minute.

Passport express is not a guaranteed ten day service and you need a passport to fly Ryanair to the UK. Both are clearly visible in their respective t&c sections. If you need to travel you need a plan b as others have suggested

It then states all the counties which they accept drivers licence as a form of ID on domestic flights. Ireland-UK as far as ryanair are concerned is not a domestic flight and only a passport will suffice.

    Hello All

I got it sorted today via a contact in the Balbriggan passport centre and local politician, got a call to go into Dublin office to pick it up in the PM, was only there for 5 minutes. I was joking about going Nuts in the PP office folks - I was getting my head around the idea of not being able to go. Anyway, I will keep that direct phone line number to person in Balbriggan, should anyone need it in the future. thanks
