New Room Stat

    Hi All,
A friend of my installed a new oil boiler, but it is connected/wired to an old "manual" timer which has on/off/timed- think 25-30s old.

Now the new boiler is doing a serious job but they are mainly heating the hous via the on/off method. This is generally OK, but if left in the "ON" position for a few house the house gets too how. There is no room stat which would auto knock off the boiler as the temperature rises.

Their "guy" said to fit a new timer / stat is a big job but if the wires are coming into the old timer then shouldn't it be relatively simple to wire in a new electronic (horstmann) timer and wire that to a room stat out through the wall nearby?

Anyone any comments to this? I guess a sparks should know this

If the existing timer is functioning as required, then just fit a room stat. Wired or wireless as the situation requires.

Most plumbers, oil techs or electricians could do this.

Please follow site and charter rules. "Resistance is futile"
