PayPal Refunded Returns

Just got an email from PayPal asking to activate the free Refunded Returns service, details here: https://www.paypal.eu/returns/

Basically suggests if you return a product purchased online with PayPal, they'll refund your return shipping costs. Sounds great on the surface, surprised to not see if mentioned here yet, am getting a 'too good to be true' feeling so am wondering if there's anything I'm overlooking?

Doubt it'd work with myreturns.ie given that service seems to be more expensive than standard returns given the nature of the collection service provided, but even if it doesn't, still seems an excellent offering.

Was thinking the same but in the T&C's it says once you provide proof of purchase (A confirmation email or screenshot) and proof of shipping costs you're good to go. You also need to comply with the Sellers return policy and have paid using PayPal and there is a cap of €30.

    Appears to be reasonably straight-forward.

It's strange that you have to opt in:confused:

I'd sell a bit on Ebay. I'm wondering , by signing up, am I am now liable for paying return postage for something I've sold.

If that is the case, I'd shy away from it.

Ebay sellers only pay return shipping if they already offer a refund service.
Can I use the PayPal Refunded Returns service if the seller or merchant already offers a similar service?

No. The PayPal Refunded Returns service applies only when a free or refunded return service by the Irish post regular mail, courier or any other regular shipping options or services is not offered by the seller or merchant from whom You made your purchase. If the seller or merchant from whom You made your purchase offers a free or refund return service by the Irish post regular mail, courier or any other regular shipping options or services, You must use that service.

    That's not correct

I don't offer a free returns service for anything I'd sell on Ebay, so Paypal will now offer it on my behalf!

For example, I sold a Rugby Jersey to a guy in Greece. I got about €10 for the jersey and he was happy to pay the €15 postage.

If he decides he doesn't like Munster all of a sudden, he returns it to me and I'm out of pocket for the postage to Greece & back?

Is it PayPal who refund the customer or the seller?

Just to be clear, the correct link is paypal.eu/ie/returns/

The earlier link is for those in southern and eastern Europe.

Paypal will refund the postage cost up to €30 for any item returned where the seller doesn't already cover this.

    So:

If the seller offers collection of unwanted goods, prepaid postage label, or refund of return cost: you're not covered.

If the seller requires the buyer to pay for the cost of the return: you're covered.

    Is this for real ?
Have a look at the e mail address at the bottom of the claim form .com. ?
I've just tried to complete a claim and it was way beyond difficult ,so much so I've fired off an e mail asking why it is so .
You cannot fill in the claim form and save it with the info on it , it wipes it clean when saving to docs. and if you complete the sign /signed section it leads you to some Excel echo e mail system that you have to sign up for PLUS it has no capability to attach the proof of postage receipt and any covering letter .........
If it is real it's a bloody **** system to use for a couple of euro.
