Micellar Water: Questions

Do any of you girls use Micellar Water for removing make-up?

I was thinking of buying some but just want to know if it actually works.

I use Johnson's Facial Wipes (in the pink packet) for removing make-up and I love them 'cos they're the moistest (is this a word?!) and they take foundation/mascara etc off really quickly.

I then use a face wash to really deep clean my face after that as I know wipes never really remove 100% of make-up.

Anyway, this Micellar water...I assume if I buy it, it'll replace the wipes?
And would I need to rub at my eyes or face or does it just dissolve makeup?

Any thoughts greatly appreciated...will be buying some today at some stage :)

I've used Bioderma before (in fact, I still have about a quarter of bottle left to use up) and... it's ok. I know lots of people love it, but I just never feel like it's getting every little bit of makeup off. I've heard some people swearing by it for taking off eye makeup but I don't like it for that at all, I find that even after holding it to my eye for 10 seconds, I'm still rubbing at my eyes to get everything off.

That said, I do like it for lazy days when I cba to use my balm cleanser! It's not the worst, not the best - I'd prefer to use a micellar water to wipes, given the choice.

And yes, it would replace the wipes. :)

I use it for taking off make up and find it great for that. Not much rubbing is needed really, it comes off pretty fast. I use the Garnier one. However I had to stop using it to remove eye make up because it was starting to sting my eyes. I use Baby oil to remove eye make up now and Micellar Water for the rest. I've also noticed that my skin isn't as dry since I started using it.

I don't really like them having tried a few different brands found that they dried my skin out. I love the boots organic cleansing balm for taking make-up off. The make-up just melts away!

I find the Garnier one great for cleansing, it's pretty good for removing makeup but I now use baby oil for removing makeup. I've tried almost everything for removing makeup recently - Nivea remover, Garnier remover (purple one) among others and the Garnier remover was by far the best at taking off makeup. I use Urban Decay Perversion liner and mascara which are REALLY black so it takes something more than average to take it off and I found the Garnier remover the best by far. Then Isaw on a frugalpage that baby oil was meant to be the best thing and I tried that. It takes it all off without a problem. Before I had to use 2 cotton pads per eye with remover, front and back!! But now with the baby oil one per eye is plenty. And baby oil is MUCH cheaper - I got a generic one from a 2euro shop.

If you are going to get the Micellar water,Penneys is cheaper than everywhere else for the Garnier one. It's something like 3.80 but is over a fiver in Boots etc.

I use the Loreal one (gone down to €3.49 from €7.99 in tescos atm) daily for cleaning my face before properly cleansing, it Unclogs my pores and leaves my face so soft and clean. I have dry skin and it's great for it.

It's miles better than wipes but not as good as a proper cleanse. It also varies wildly from brand to brand. I found the Garnier one to be pretty crap and quite drying but I really liked the Loreal one. I could use the Loreal one on my eyes and it didn't sting, but the Garnier one stung like hell. It's only ok at removing eye make up tho. Loreal do an gel based version that is designed for eyes that is pretty good, still not as good as an oil based eye make up remover tho.

It's great for either taking off the bulk of make up before a proper cleanse or just for those lazy days where you aren't bothered cleansing properly. So pretty much a more skin friendly version of face wipes.

I bought the new Botanics one as I love their range and swear by their eye make up remover. It is so refreshing and seems to give a nice deep clean, no stinging at all.
Half price at the minute as well!

Thanks for all the replies, everyone. I think I'll try the Garnier one-I saw it on offer today. I shall report back with my views!

best stuff ever for removing make up including waterproof make up and long lasting stuff is this stuff:

    http://www.thebalm.com/balms-away.html

I swear by it - you can scrub it into your closed eyes and it disolves everything (ive sensitive eyes and skin and this stuff doesnt irritate it at all). I then wash it all away or use face wipes / face cloth to remove the disolved make up and then wash.

As for the micellar waters I always find the a bit slimy on my skin and would have to wash my face after it but of the ones offered I found the garnier one best

I love micellar water! I use it to take off make up in the evening before using another cleanser, and also in the morning as the only cleanser I use (unless I've had a mask on overnight or something). I've tried a couple of brands. (I don't use micellar water to take off eye make-up cause my eyes are very sensitive, so this is just re: face make up).

Vichy: I used this before cheaper versions started coming out. The best micellar water I've used. It's just so lovely and soothing and got everything off with one go. I really can't justify buying it now though :(

Loreal: Grand, does the job I want it to do. Takes a little longer to get everything off than the Vichy, but it's still good.

Garnier: Pretty much same as Loreal. I would go for this more often purely because you get more product.

Superdrug B. Pure: This is okay, but I can't use it on my lips cause there's a taste off it, unlike any other I've used. I leave this one at my parents house for when I'm down there, I wouldn't use it up otherwise.

I've used the Garnier and Loreal ones. Both do an ok job at removing makeup, nothing special! I'd definitely recommend a proper cleanse after though as I find it doesn't remove everything (but everyone's skin is different).

I can't recommend the botantics cleansing balm enough, it's amazing! Clears all traces of makeup, including waterproof mascara. Also +1 for baby oil. I've read online that some people have a bad reaction to it but it removes makeup really well.
