    Hi all,
Im trying to plan my husband's 30th birthday. Im looking for tips on a place to go. Were looking for a town (not city), lively but not too lively as there will be a group of about 20 of us so I dont want to be turned away from any pubs / clubs for being a large group. Ive been to Carrick an Shannon last year on a hen and it was EXCELLENT so I was thinking of there. Ive heard that you can rent the boats to sleep in for 1 night. Has any one else tried this? Was it good / expensive / better than staying in a b&b / hotel. Also its in April so not sure if it would suit that time of year. Would really appreciate any suggestions anyone has.

Sligo or Ennis are nice spots - with nice scenery nearby - and about the size you seem to be looking for.

Yeah I also heard good things about Ennis. Ill have a look online about it.

    Thanks :)

Westport is a great spot, if you are looking for a more laid back trip away. Westport plaza is a nice hotel, and there are plenty of good restaurants around.

If you, like your name, like the craic, Carrick is probably a good bet.
Westport is lovely, but can be better for a laid back more 'civil' affair :D
If it were just the two of yee, I'd say Westport... but go nuts and hit Carrick!
Kilkenny could be worth a look too.

Lol, yeah we do love like the craic ;) I think were gonna go ahead and book Carrick. I was there once on a hen and it was brilliant!!! My husband never was though so he's up for trying it out. Thanks for all the suggestions :)

Carrick is a grand spot if you're just looking for one night out.

If you're staying a little longer or want to have options of things to do during the day then Sligo is a better shout.
