i took my daughter out of a school last year due to been bullied by fellow students and her teachers were as bad as the kids ,spoke to prinicpal about the bullying and the way the teacher screamed at the kids ,principal has had about 20 complaints about these 2 teachers from the mothers that were in my daughter class ,also the teachers have been there about 20 yrs and the amount of parents that i spoken to have had to go to principal but the teachers are still there ,,,
anyway when i spoke to principal about teachers she spoke to my daughter and said if she got scared of teachers to go out of class and go down to her so she did and the teacher screamed at her to get the fuxk back in her class and refused to let her use the toilet ,
anyway it was a split class 3/4 my daughter was in 3 but because she was in with 4 class thats the circulem she learned 4 class irish .
my daughter was brillant at irish i mean top of class ,,,,so in new scholl she really struggling with irish i spoke with principal and teacher in new school and there opioion is because she skipped 3 year irish they think she not coping with 4 year ,,,,,
it was explained to me like this if you learning to read you first learn cat and then you learn catch so she missed a year of learning that why she struggles her oral irish is brillant but spelling and writing is preety bad
im fuming about this what can i do ? her new school says she going to need grinds to catch up and learn the 3 year irish but i cant afford this
what do i do i feel she wasted a year of school and put up with nothing but abuse from these 2 teachers i had about 10 days where she would not go to school afiraid of teachers terrifred of them but the principal done nothing what would you do if you were me ?

That is pretty unacceptable behaviour from a teacher.
What did the board of management say about the situation?
It is hard to understand your post but is she is 3rd or 4th class now?
Can you find out what the 3rd class books are and then go through them with her?

For any teacher to behave in such a fashion and to use such language to a child is completely unacceptable. Did you make a formal complaint to the board?

the BOM is run by the priest who i spoke to about the problem

The BOM is not run by the priest. If you make a formal complaint as opposed to mentioning it in passing it must be dealt with and you must receive a formal response.

I'd suggest you get your daughter watching Tg4 cartoons and on some of these websites. I would not be impressed at a teacher suggesting grinds for a 4th class child either!

www.scoilnet.ie look under the primary Irish section
seomranga.com has loads of vocabulary printables
    http://boscabeo.com/
    http://www.isfeidirliom.ie/
    http://www.daltai.com/phrases/
    http://www.nicurriculum.org.uk/micro...rish/index.asp
http://www.nicurriculum.org.uk/irish...ilge/index.asp is great for phonic work

Don't misunderstand me when I ask but what do you want us to tell you? This is a very personal issue to you and the school. An answer that you might get here may be of no help to your daughter's situation seeing as she has moved on and is enrolled in a new school.
When you have a split class studying the older class' curriculum is common practice. Each school will have their own criteria for splitting, but a child's ability to "keep up" would always be considered. As you have said, your daughter was top of the class and so must have been able for all that she studied.
I have a lot of experience with split classes and can't really relate to what your daughter's new teacher is saying. (Out of interest is she in a split class in her new school??) 3rd and 4th irish curriculum quite similar and I have never observed a problem where "skipping" a curriculum has impacted on a child as it has for your daughter.
Long and short of it is there is really nothing you can do about the old school. That's in the past. You can of course send a letter of complaint to BOM and alert them of your concerns but if she was top of class in old school then it may just be teething problems in her new school and hopefully things will settle into place.

Have you got a neighbour or do you know an older child that could help her with it?
