Just noticed this on their website today.
Irish Citylink are delighted to announce the launch of our NEW Limerick - Dublin Airport eireagle non-stop service. Service will commence on 14th February and there will be 16 daily services, 8 in each direction. A fleet of luxury coaches with on-board toilets and free wifi will operate the services. Journey time will be only 2 hours and 30 minutes.

I looked up some fares, looks like adult single is E25 walk-on or E20 on-line. It wouldn't give me a return option.

Looks like they're operating at all hours of the night, probably to stop Dublin coach from complaining about the service too much

Can't see it being overly popular, with Shannon airport on limericks doorstep there's very few reasons to fly out of DUB for Limerick people

Dublin Coach do not serve the airport (directly)

Very few places to fly out of SNN especially if its not summer and your not going to Spain. JJ K also serve Shannon Airport-Dublin Airport so there must be some demand.

This will be interesting - I'm not convinced that there's necessarily a market for this level of service between Limerick and Dublin Airport (rather than Dublin City), but you never know.

You can get from Shannon to Heathrow and New York and then onwards to almost anywhere in the world though!

The Kavanaghs bus stops in every little village and town on the way to Dublin airport from Shannon airport taking almost 5.5 hours between the 2 airports the service is tailored to people going from Limerick/roscrea/neenagh to Shannon airport and portlaoise/ kildare to Dublin and Dublin airport

I'd say you would be hard pressed to find somebody (other than the driver) going the full length of the route

The average person flying somewhere in Europe will travel to Dublin to fly, long haul via LHR or US destinations via JFK.

Cork has an airport with more routes and yet Aircoach fill buses everyday to Dublin....

    Thanks OP.

I hope they have enough traffic to justify the route. Flights from Shannon are great but for shorthaul in Europe direct flights make sense where ever possible rather than taking two ryanair/aer lingus flights, paying airport charges, baggage fees etc for each.

I've been using the Dublin Coach fairly regularly since they started and I've been happy with the service. It's much faster and cheaper than taking the train to Dublin and the bus to the airport. The bus from Heuston to the airport alone takes almost an hour as it stops in half of Dublin. The only problem has been the change at the Red Cow where getting luggage into the connecting bus to the airport can be a pain as it's a double decker and doesn't have the under floor luggage space, not to mention standing in the cold/wind/rain for 10-15 minutes sometimes waiting for the connection.

This new direct service takes 15 minute less according to the timetable and booking a return ticket online costs the same so it all looks good.

At quite significant price, compared to a bus to DUB and a direct from there in most cases.

The aircoach buses are full because they stop in the city, I'd imagine very few stay on for the airport, the same is true for the Dublin coach service from Limerick, I rarely see many getting on/off at the red cow with big suitcases for their connecting bus

There are plenty of reasons...more flights, to more destinations, at better times & often at cheaper prices.

Flying via Heathrow or JFK won't suit everyone. They are horrible airports to transit through and not all airlines fly into them.
