    Hi All

As many people know they offer for first 65 workers voluntary redundancy 5 weeks for each year of service and 4 weeks for compulsory if I wont decide to take first package.

My question is: I'm working in Pallas Foods 7 years and 8 months and if i take "voluntary" will i pay any tax? and how much would I if i'm on 491 euro for 40 hours per week and will I be able to claim social walfare or I will need to wait 9 weeks because I took voluntary.

Please take the time to read the relevant charter

Cake, and grief counseling, will be available at the conclusion of the test

Yes you will have to pay some of it as it comes under taxable pay. Doesnt the voluntary redundancy only apply to drivers?

    Basic Exemption
The Basic Exemption due is €10,160, plus €765 for each complete year of service. (This does not include statutory redundancy which is tax free.)

Most likely your redundancy will be tax free, best of luck with everything.

Edit: Just ran some calculations, presuming 5 weeks you are being offered includes the statutory 2 weeks pay, then my calculations say your payment will not be subject to tax. The State benefits forum may be able to advise you on social welfare query.
