Just wondering if these Korean Monitors are worth the hassle? I'm on the look out for a 27" 1440 monitor atm. Prices for mainstream brands are pretty high. They have got good reviews from a lot of sites some sob stories mind. Anyone have one they are just over €300 on Ebay. Thanks.

They were good value a couple of years ago. I'm not so sure about now.

4k monitors are becoming affordable and will only get better and cheaper this year.

I'd hold out for 4k at this stage, maybe even 4k Korean ones.

I'd say it depends on your use case Bloodbath. If you have SLI 980's then yeah, wait for 4k, but if you wont be gaming at 4K and your day to day wouldnt benefit from it 1440 isnt a bad option. I'm a developer and really dont need 4k, windows doesnt even scale well. Photoshop would benefit sure, but thats not a high usage application for me.

OP search for the term "CATLEAP" and you'll find a huge thread on Korean panels.

It'd down to whether you want to pay €300 for a dodgy Korean panel or wait a year and get a brand name 4k panel with Freesync for slightly more.

4k is the new standard. Windows scaling is fine. We'll be on windows 10 by then anyway.

Again depending on your needs id just hold out for a good 4k panel. If your GPU isnt the best you could always scale down the resolution or detail until your planning on a GPU upgrade

Thanks i'm not sure of the hardware needed for 4k monitors. If its SLI cards then i'm stuffed tbh. Have a single R9 290 and not willing to pay for another on top of a 4k monitor. Think i might take a punt on those Korean ones thanks.

Dual 290's would be a requirement for playing games at ultra at 4k. A single 290 is fine for 4K with some visual compromise.
