    Hey All

    Getting out for a good bit of swimming lately, before the turn of the year i hadnt come close top breaking 20mins for 750metres. I'm now down to 18:15 for 800 metres. I used to swim in a 25 metre pool, now its a 20 metre pool.

    Just a couple of questions;

    1. what would be a good average time for this distance

    2. Does it make a difference moving from a 25 metre pool to a 20 metre pool. The water is also a lot warmer in the 20 metre pool

    Thanks

    Don't get hung up on times for a 750m, do your best and try and beat your own time. Also have you ever had a video analysis done on your stroke? Few lads in here would do sub 20min for a 1500m.

    I'd try and get away from the 20meter pool, look at it this way if your swimming in a 25m pool with the push off from each end your only really swimming 49m doing a 50m front crawl. I'd love to be near a 50meter pool but I'm not, if I were I'd be in it most days as it would improve my indurance.

    Also a warm pool will fatigue you more than a normal cooler pool, the warmer it is the more tired you will feel.

    Heya,

    Did you ever do the zero to mile challenge. Its 64 lengths of 25m pool without stopping. Great way to build up your swimming endurance. Facebook has loads of pages on this and you can compare your speed with other people from novices to strong swimmers.

    Like mad m, would stay away from a 20m pool, its too short and if you have a good strong kick off a wall, to cover too much under the water and not swimming.

    I swim in one pool near my work at lunch time and it is so cold, it takes hours just to feel warm again and my back which would be outside the water would also be freezing. My local pool at home has the temp at 29 sometimes and thats like a bath for me, too warm- never happy !!
