Late delivery and offer of gift card from Amazon.co.uk

Have run into same problem as a recent poster. Needed something quickly so ordered from a seller on Amazon.co.uk with a UK address and a promised delivery of 1 week but nothing came. Contacted the seller and it turns out that the item is coming from Hong Kong and will take up to 4 weeks to get here. Seller clearly has the wrong delivery information up for the item.

Have now filed a claim with Amazon and have been offered a gift card 'refund'. Would prefer my cash back to getting a gift card but might I lose out on both if I hold out? Or is the gift card always an option even if my claim is not successful (which I can't see why it would be)?
