Completing Med 1

    Hi,
Filling out a Med 1 to claim for Non-Routine Dental Treatment (I have the completed Med 2 from the dentist)
The med 1 form asks for GCD and Unit number -
"The above details can be obtained from your Certificate of Tax Credits".

I have looked on the tax credit form and cannot see this.
Can anyone tell me where I can get this information?

    Thanks

Not really necessary. GCD is the numerical code for your local tax District (stands for General Claims District). It probably is on your cert as "District" - 44 is Wicklow for example).

As long as your PPSN and address are correct they won't need the GCD / unit number.

If you do the claim online on PAYEanytime you won't need any of that nonsense - is there a particular reason you're doing it on paper?

    Thanks for the help
I thought I had to do it on paper since it needs to be accompanied by the signed/stamped Med 2. Is this not the case?

Maybe it does IF you do it on paper!

But if you do it online you just fill in the correct fields and hit send. If its picked for checking they'll ask you for Med2.

I was just about to ask a similar question about dental work on a Med 2. I'm on ROS, so do I just complete the fields and then just hold on to the hard copy of the Med 2 in case I get asked for it?

Ah cheers - and given the weather I see out there, I might just do my return today!

I was just on the phone to the tax office, and they said I should just fill in the appropriate number on my Form 11 on line but I should post the Med 2 in to them. Seems fair enough to me.
