Some Advice, Dublin Question?

I will be driving to the ports in Dublin tomorrow, I know there are huge anti-Austerity demonstrations planned along the the quays. I'm driving in from the south up the M7 so I'm wondering would I better off heading around the M50 and taking the Dublin Port Tunnel?

My original plan was to drive up the quays until I got to the port, but with the protests I'm unsure as I'm not used to driving in Dublin and only drove into the city twice before for GAA matches and parked in the Parnell Street multistory.

I am also thinking if I took the East Link instead coming via the R111 Dublin Outer Orbital Route? It is certainly cheaper than paying the M50 and & Dublin Port toll of €3.10 + €3.00 x 2 = €12.20 compared to €1.75 x 2 = €3.50.

Also I wonder what is the situation for UK Registered Vehicle's if we went the M50 Dublin port, is it possible to just pay the toll online afterwards? Me and a friend are going to the Port to collect an imported car from the UK at the Dublin port.
