Buying new car, no trade in, how much better

Hi, a family member went to trade their Audi A4 for a Q3, since then we have decided to buy the A4,

How much better would should they expect to gain by doing a straight deal. The A4 is in very good condition with very low mileage and serviced in the same Audi garage, all it would have needed was a valet & polish.

Sales man offered 1000 euro off, I would have expected a better deal.

    Any opinions????

For a brand new car depending on the waiting list and demand something between 5-10% should be achievable for a straight sale.

You need to shop around. There is no way to guess if you are getting a good deal unless you have another dealer's price to compare against. Play dealers off each other and let the one with the best price earn your business.

How much is the new car, and do you need to put it on order?

I'm going back to bmw tomorrow to test drive a 430d and 420d and I'm told independently not to expect much more than 2-3%, esp if it needs to go on order.
The 430d on the other hand was just pre-reg'ed this afternoon (last registration day of the month), and may have more discount.

Will let you know tomorrow evening

on a straight deal for a 59€k bmw I was given 3.65% discount today, after a haggle.
