While I was readig the Is it worth watching The Good Wife thread something occured to me. I'm just back after several sick days and, while I was quite unwell, one of the high points was being able to watch both series of Rectify, Season 1 as a catchup and Season 2 for the first time.

One of my more recent periods of unemployment a few years back gat me into watching The Wire. It was a show I'd started prior to finding myself jobless but unemployment gave me more scope to really binge watch and get into the show. There was also the added bonus that I would spend the day doing personal stuff, job hunting, personal development and things like that and have an evening's worth of new Wire episodes to look forward to. If I was particularly getting into a groove, I could watch an extra episode or two a bit later than bedtime and start my schedule a little later the following day.

What sort of shows have you gotten into while being jobless? Is there any part of you now that looks at existing 6+ season shows that you know are great and secretly crave a P45 so that you can finally have the time to get invested?

I've been out of work sick recently. I watched all of the inbetweeners. Some of them I had not seen so it was fun binge watching. I've also just started watching trailer park boys. And I am still catching up with homeland.

I would normally watch telly but not to extent that I am lately. It's nice when you're under the weather to find some random show that you like and watch it from start to finish. I suppose years ago before netflix, boxsets and catch up services you be stuck at home feeling sorry for yourself waiting for something decent to come on.

on the hunt for a job ATM, gonna be unemployed in a few weeks, im kinda hoping for a 3-4 week break between jobs so i can finally watch Sons of Anarchy, but i also have season 2 of vikings, Marco Polo, Orange in the New Black 1 and 2, and season 4-7 of The Shield, which ive been slowly working through between my weekly viewing schedule,

i remember the days i could easily get through them irregardless of my employment status, damn social life getting in the way :D:D:D

Yup I started watching Its Always Sunny In Philadelphia while waiting for an operation in hospital. Best decision I ever made. Recovery was tough and it kept me laughing. Great show!

Definitely- work six months on two months off after all the catching up with people is done nothing better than binge watching tv series. Have done end of Sons of Anarchy and started Criminal Minds again this week :)

Messed up my leg last year, actually over a year ago and at the minute walking causes me a lot of pain so I'm not able to do much. Having something to watch or read really does keep you going, the ability to turn on the TV and find something on Netflix really is a blessing. Right now I'm working my way through Elementary and rewatching Deadwood and will soon be going back to The Wire. I know it may sound odd but having that episode of TV to look forward to is often the boost you need to get up and out of bed, can imagine it being very easy to sink into a deep, dark depression when you find yourself with little to do.
