have always liked the mavic deep wheels, bit deeper than what you were looking for and a bit over budget, but that was always going to happen and does come with a tyre.

600euro for 50mm tubs you have to go to a chinese supplier. They 're decent wheels too if you pick a known supplier.

Edit: Sorry just noticed you are only looking for front one.

Have you looked into planetx? They do relatively cheap 50mm wheelsets, I don't know if they'll sell you a front wheel only. Might be worth a call.

No dont want that deep cheers. Had a zipp 808 and sold it. Too much of a pain in the as* in the wind. Was coming off the Caha pass in a race in August at 60k+ and got hit by a gust and went into a full speed wobble for 100m .....not very pleasant. I do like the 60mm version though

I have a 38mm carbonzone wheel from ebay. Raced roads and cyclocross on them. Couple of lads in the club have the same make wheels. They do 50mm whels, ship to ireland, and in my experience are very good value. You would probably get a couple of sets for that money. External nipples, novatex hubs. I would buy another set.

probably the same race where the same thing happened me with 50mm wheels. had to come to a full stop.

the 50's might not solve all the problems...

Have you a link Lenny? Did you have to pay any import duty/costs?

I got 50mm carbon rims from Yishun, have road and track tubs. Had wheels built here with CX Rays and unbranded hubs from US on road version, Dura Ace hubs on the track wheels.

They're very light and have survived 3 cyclocross seasons. Quality is good and wasn't charged import duty on mine.

Is postage included in their prices?

You know as well as I do that the "wobble" is a result of your reaction to the gust of wind not the wheel. With a 404 you'd have done the same.

Equating low cost with good value. It doesn't matter if something is cheap, if it doesn't really meet the description then its never good value. On the PX wheels that are billed as an aero wheel.........

I know quite a few with problems with the rim build quality. including serious failures.

Also people equate deep with aero. just because a wheel is deep does not make it aero and that's the problem here.

Its like their approach to road bikes. Poor frames, poor components but put a Durace rear mech on and everyone will snap them up.

The Planet X wheels are Aero. I'd love to know where you're getting your info.

As for build quality. I have no comment as I don't know for certain.

The good people at bike radar give the 50mm wheels 5 stars.

This is just nonsense. They make some excellent frames.

Any reasons why? Had contemplated a pair for racing, dont like carbon breaking with detecs in the wet

Cosmics are just alu rims with carbon fairing, apart from a nice whoop whoop sound I don't think they offer anything else. And they are very heavy too.

I would not have thought 765g is heavy for a front wheel ?
