Anyone got experience with MPS (medical protection society)? And would you recommend subscription from them?
I heard from my colleagues that Clinical indemnity scheme do not cover all aspects.
    Thanks

My understanding is that the CIS will essentially cover a negligence claim, and not much else. If you're up against the medical council, or have been charged with a criminal act in relation to your clinical practice you'll have to shoulder tens of thousands for legal representation yourself. This is why most would subscribe with MPS or similar.

    thanks for the info.
Do you recommend any other insurance besides MPS?
And is it necessary if you are on a training scheme?

No recommendations sorry, I don't think it's a requirement because the only person disadvantaged is yourself.

There have been (rare) cases where a trainee (intern/sho/reg) has been hung out to dry by the hospital and consultant so whilst the majority of people wont ever avail of their medical protection insurance as a NCHD, if something like that does happen youll be glad you have it. Premiums arent very high as a trainee anyhow.

I was with the MPS for 43 years. I only had to contact them on a handful of occasions luckily. I always found them very helpful.
