    Hi
I'm living in Kilkenny and receiving free view from Wales on a high gain uhf aerial and mast head amplifier, in the winter months the reception is excellent all of the time but in the good weather of summer it can deteriorate from day to day. What is the reason for this, I would have taught better weather, higher pressure = better signal, no?
Attached is picture of signal details this morning. Thanks

Yes, and stronger signals from distant transmitters on the same channel blocking it out.

Agreed, gave up with Welsh reception ,much discussed last year, coming into S.Down. The sad fact seemed to be the HD signal was the hardest to hold onto. The Isle of Mann Txs never seem to be capable of HD recption although the SD romps in.

hi grousedogtom, i am interested to here about your reception of freeview channels in kilkenny. i have a dat 790 hd aerial and can only recieve channels in lift conditions. i live near kells in kilkenny and had analoge reception from one point in my garden before but i cannot receive very much from my roof chimney only in lift conditions. maybe that spot in the garden might be worth checking out if signal can be got in kilkenny. can you give details about the height you are at. using google im at 84 meters and seem to have a clear line on this side but mountains in wales are a problem i think.

I'd instal a dish to get Freesat instead, fully reliable with no interference.

There is NO SUCH THING as an HD aerial.

Take it up with Televes winston_1 before jumping down the neck of a poster looking for help.
Strange that you didn't correct him / her for using the word "here" instead of "hear" but of course that is the same mistake you made in a different thread on DS.
bpfun --- I hope you get the answers you are looking for --- sorry I can't help as I am the opposite to you getting good Saorview reception over here in Wales.
    Regards

Hi Atlantic Dawn, I do have satellite in fact i have a 1.2 meter rotational dish so i have all the channels i need but this is about freeview from an aerial and is just a hobby for me. During lift conditions i can receive channels from France, TF1 HD, France 2 hd, M6hd, Hd1, Cherie 25, Lequipe 21, D8, Bfm tv, I>Tele, D17, Gulli, France 4 and also from Redruth and Caradon hill and also the Caramel transmitter and Preseli. As i said its just a hobby but if there is a possibility of a somewhat stable signal in the Kilkenny area then i would be happy to receive it.

Had a look at that link. The brand name is actually Televes. DAT 790 HD appears to be the model number, 790 referring to the max frequency, and HD; well it appears Televis don't know there is no such thing as an HD aerial as well.

It is really sad when manufacturers don't know something so basic about what they are selling.

I wouldnt have thought french tv would never be possible from Ireland even in uplift conditons? I thought this was even marginal in the south-east of England!

I often got French TV during lifts in South Wicklow, admittedly at a height. I also regularly got Caradon Hill and Redruth although Preseli was the daily source.
