    Hi

I have a freesat tuner workink fine for ages. Signal deteriorating since Christmas. However some days we have all channels for a while. Over last week we only have Channel 5

Don't think its the receiver because we have one in two rooms with two different receivers with same problem

    Any pointers would be appreciated

    T

    Dish out of alignment?

Chunchienut I thought it could be the dish, but cannot understand why we are still getting Channel 5

What make and model is the Freesat box you have?

Have you tried disconnecting the power source for a few mins?

If it's gradually deteriorated since Xmas, I would be thinking of a rusty bracket letting go.

There are a number of variables on one fixed position; different satellites, different footprints, H or V, different error correction, frequencies
    etc.

Certain channels will still just about provide enough data for the error correction to overcome the signal loss and display a full picture long after other channels are unreadable.

From what you have posted it is almost certainly the dish has moved out of alignment. If you can get to the dish without endangering yourself then give it a shake and see if anything has come loose. If you are lucky it may just be the mounting bolts have worked loose and retightening them will put the dish alignment back. With all the stormy weather over the last 2 months it there are lots of dishes getting blown off course.

All, thanks for the advise. Looks like I will be getting the ladder out this weekend

So I git the ladder out and checked the dish. No loose brackets or connection to the LNB. I checked dish alignment but could not improve on reception for channel 5. No signal for bbc etc

So today checked signal, and now I am getting most channels. The +1 channels are still no signal

Borrow a known working box from a friend or neighbour and see if that is OK. That will eliminate whether your box is at fault from the equation.

I didn't manage to borrow a receiver yet, however since Sunday reception on all channels is good. Very confused, not convinced I did anything to improve

I have a similar problem, I have just installed a second dish and to cut a long story short, after troubleshooting for a few hours i only seem to be picking up Horizontally polarized channels, i've checked the channel list on wiki for Astra 28.2e and all the V channels are missing from a scan on the new dish, the signal from the sat is as good as i can get it i think

    14.9 dB
    AGC 97%
    BER 0%
    SNR 92%

    but only on H channels

The receiver picks up all channels on the old dish.

Any ideas what the issue could be, the new dish is in pretty good shape , it was never used before , just had it in the garage for a few years, could it be i just dont have it perfectly level?

check cable for signs of weathering etc if dish+Lnb and receiver ok i would suggest replacing cable.

    I would suspect the lnb.
Do as swap out for another just to test.
