    Howdy.

I've done about 15 lessons and have been practicing once or twice a week for the last couple of months. My test is in a month. I'm confident but I'm finding it difficult to get enough practice in, due to the requirement to have a licensed driver with me.

Was thinking of going out in the evening to practice when it's quiet. Are gardai lenient if you have a test coming up?

No and they shouldn't be ! its illegal to drive unaccompanied, your insurance may be invalid and at a minimum you could get points, fine and in the unfortunate event that something might cause an accident, a heafty bill for repairs. You say you are a good driver but you until you have passed the test you cannot prove it.

Drive to an industrial estate and do laps.

Police won't stop you on road but you might get asked if there's a checkpoint.
