Gimme a bell!!!

I bought bells, two of em, one each for my two girls, I'd swear they were nearly a frickin tenner each and as I kinda suspected, they've turned out to be the cheapest sh1ttest poxiest balls of scuttery, flimsy, fall-apart sh1te I've ever had the misfortune to purchase. I put them on yesterday and already after one 5 minute cycle to school, one of them is half broken.

So anyway.

Is there such a thing as a high quality bell that would satisfy the constant clanging demands of a haughty scandanavian or dutch daily cycle lane user, and where might I procure same?

Freewheeling on Pearse Street has a good selection of decent quality bells - worth a visit to the shop as they seem to have more than what's listed on the website

I have one and I don't like it. Most common reaction when using it on people in cycle lane was them stopping where they were and turning around to see if the avon lady was behind them. Actually that's a lie, the most common reaction was "continue to listen to music obliviously".

I far prefer an old school dring dring bell like this one which I got in Joe Dalys.

How does that Oxford one compare?

Bigger? Smaller? Louder? Quieter?

A claxon that runs off the battery for your lights would be great. Actually a claxon integrated with a light would make huge sense

Gives off a nice gentle DING before going around blind corners like the canal bike path turning onto Leeson Street, or a rather aggressive DI-DI-DING when someone steps out in front of me while cycling through the city. No mechanics to break inside and it's neatly tucked away below your stem.

If you were in Dublin I'd arrange to meet you but I couldn't be bothered with the post and packaging hassles to mail it sorry.

I got one of these on my commuter bike. I'm sure it was about a fiver and isn't a cateye one, but it works a treat and is needed for the shared path/bike lanes here in Zurich

Bought last christmas, when I was getting an engraved one for my OH. Couldn't resist treating myself. This was it in its boxfresh state on my desk in work. It has mellowed a bit from the weather but the text is still visible and the sound is as clear as... as clear as...

I also have the ding-dong bell from the Greenaer link upthread- four years and still going strong.
