I got an older international rough terrain forklift with gear stick in middle of legs and side shift F. N and R at side.

When she lies up a few weeks you can't get it in to gear as will grind, same with side shift.

Any ideas on how to sort this

    thanks

Hydraulic actuated clutch? Is there a leaking slave cylinder at the bell housing?

Have you checked the gearbox oil level? What's in the bottom of the gearbox, oil or water? Just wondering if corrosion settling in in the syncro rings....

Clutch plate rusted to the flywheel would have those symptoms. They can be made to free themselves off by various means.

Can you get it into gear before you start it, then start it with your foot on clutch. Is it a fluid or cable/linkage clutch?

Can you leave it parked with clutch pedal pressed? If no issues after a few days then it is clutch disc rusting it self to flywheel as mentioned previously.
