    Hi all

Hoping someone might know info i'm looking for.

Want to travel from dublin to manchester via rail and sail if posssible, on sunday coming back tuesday next.
I have called irish ferrys and it seems, that the swift might be back up and running for dates I want to travel.
Please can anyone confirm this as I would really much prefer to travel via boat than plain, but don't fancy nearly 4 hours on a boat followed by 2 on a train or whatever it is to manchester.
    Thanks so much in advance

    AG

As far as I can see unless high season and ulysses is full they use any excuse to not run the Swift.

    Irish Ferries are rubbish.

The swift is VERY prone to cancellations due to the weather. Any sort of decent wind and it does not run. This time of year is not the time to be on it (if its running) One one trip, they were giving out sickbags before we had even left the dock!
Try to fly or go ferry-ferry.

Swift has been out of service for most of Jan for maintenance, is due back tomorrow 30 Jan but those sailings have been cancelled due to bad weather.

As the previous poster said the Swift sailings are weather dependent, forecast for Sunday doesn't look great so it would be 50/50, Tuesday is a bit far away to say.

For the morning sailing as long as you either get the 07.15 bus from the Busaras or arrive at the terminal before 07.30 you will be put on the Ulysees when the Swift is not running, it is only an added 45mns as Ulysees departs earlier.

For the afternoon 14.30 sailing you need to check beforehand, if the Swift is cancelled the connecting bus from Busaras does not run as Irish Ferries will not take foot passengers on their 14.15 Epsilon sailing, instead you will be transferred to the evening 20.55 Ulysees sailing.

Stena Line have a 15.10 sailing that takes foot passengers but if you have an Irish Ferries ticket you will need to get a refund from them and buy a Stena one instead, also they do not operate a bus from the city for that sailing so you need to make your own way to their terminal. Regular Dublin Bus 53 at 13.00 or 14.00 (tight) from Talbot Street stops at the Irish Ferries terminal, the Stena terminal is a 5-10 min walk from there. Otherwise Taxi.

Similar arrangements are for the return, 11.50 swift cancellations are put on 14.10 Ulysees. 17.15 Swift cancellation are put on the 02.40 Ulysees, Stena Nordica sails at 20.30, no public transport for that in Dublin port.
