    Folks,

Has anyone come across an issue where the wipers just stop working, but you can hear the motor when you turn them on?
Was driving an hour ago, wipers on and they just stopped in full flow. I can move them by hand, but they wont work automatically. Am stuck for the car as the wife is away and with the weather the way it is, it makes it hard.

Yes, happened to my car. Basically the wiper linkage grooves were worn where it was driver by the motor cog. It stopped working because I tried to turn on the wipers once while stuck on an icy windscreen.

The motor turned and worked ok, the wipers could be moved by hand. I was able to temporarily fix it by using some sticky tape on the motor cog to get a grip but it never lasted long. Permanently fixed by replacing the linkage which was straightforward to do.

Was it a big or expensive job to get done?

Just got a quote from the local mechanic of 287 ex VAT for the linkage. Seems steep considering the motor seems to be working fine.

So went and had a look for myself there. Motor is working perfectly, but I can see one of the link arms has come off. Its like the nut securing it has come off.

Now to find a mechanic in Galway that can fix it

to my knowledge the original part by nissan is wiper linkage and motor, which comes as one unit hense its price.

sometimes these Qashqai wiper linkages can be drilled out and repaired where they have come apart........

other wise you could try this guy..... highly recommended
