I have herd that the phone line requirement is no longer compulsory for a multiscreen subscription. Is this correct. If so what type of box do sky install for a multiscreen subscription. I have the standard box since I got sky installed years ago.

When you say multi screen I presume you mean multi room? (sorry for seeming pedantic) If so as far as I am aware multi room boxes still need a phone line as the second box communicates to Sky every so often to let them know its being used on the correct sub. If you no longer have a Sky sub then you dont need the phone line connected.

The second box is officially called "multiscreen" (by Sky) and does not need a telephone connection now. That kicked in a year past in December.

Stupid thing is that if you have / had a multiscreen box in use prior to that and are continuing with a subscription then they do require the box to be connected to a phone line in that situation.

As above - no phone line needed now. The box will be their regular Sky HD box. If you wanted the HD+ box you would either have to pay them more or buy one on Adverts for example which is a cheaper way of doing it.

Sky currently have a "talk to" forum here on Boards where you can get all your questions answered directly and they will even call you to discuss any queries you have.

OK lad's thanks for the info. Connecting a phone line to 2 boxes must have put a lot of people off the idea of a multiroom sub.It is a wonder that sky don't advertise this. Many thanks.

Sky will never tell you anything that might beneficial they will always make you ask for something and mostly threaten to leave in order to actually get it.

Thank God that phone line thing is gone! The hassle getting a phone line to an additional box...

Added multiroom a while ago and it was just a standard hd box with no hdd, which was perfectly fine. You can add what box you like I think but it may cost more.

Or maybe get a second hand box yourself and swap the cards?

If you have a HD box running the R010 software and it's connected to the Internet then you can disconnect the phone line regardless of when you had it installed.

Sky seem to be more anxious to sign up new subscriptions rather than to push the multi room option.
