New Setup Question - AA2

I have searched the existing Amiko threads but could not fine much information on the loop through.

I currently have a single LNB satellite dish and a saorview aerial running via two separate cables into my living room and feeding an old freesat box and a saorview box. I want to upgrade to an Amiko Alien 2 and I cant find much information on how the loopthrough works.
I will feed the two cables into the sat1 in and tuner in sockets on the AA2.

    - If I want to record two SAT programmes simultaneously do I have to run a cable from the Loopthrough on SAT1 into the input on SAT2?

    - It is easy enough for me to run Co-Ax from the living room to the kids room but it would be awkard for me to run two new cables form the Sat dish and aerial to Room 2. Therefore If I want to run a second Alien 2 box in another room can I run cables from the Aerial out and the SAT loop on into the second room. Will the second box then work independently even if the first box in the chain is on standby?

    - If using the aerial out is not an option then I could put diplexers and combiners on the existing cables and extend one into the second room. Is there any loss in quality of you run Saorview and Sat feed via the one cable and then split them?

    Thanks

If you loop from Sat1 to sat2 you will be restricted to only a few transponders depending on what Sat1 is watching. Sat boxes send a variable control voltage to the LNB as part of the tuning. This is why you are not recommended to loop or split satellite coaxes between boxes. 1 feed per tuner is best.

Ok thanks - so from that am i to take that with the Amiko Alien 2 if I want to record and watch simultaneously from the full array of satellite channels then I would have to have a Dual LNB feed with two cables just for that function.

    Yes that is correct

A Stacker/Destacker is a possible solution for a single cable installation if a second cable cant be run but its an expensive option.

Just get a quad or octo LNB for small money & run a 2nd feed.
    They are dirt cheap.
