Insurance- cost of address change

I received a renewal quote from 123.ie of just over 500e. I rang them hoping to get it a bit lower and to updates address, I have moved but still in the same estate so didn't expect that to impact the price. Unfortunately the change of house number came back with a quote of 690!!!

It seems ridiculous so I've requested a call back from a supervisor tomorrow but I'm not holding out much hope. Has anyone came across this situation before?

It's literally a stones throw away from my other house though, how do they calculate the risk of certain parts of an estate? I would understand if it was a separate estate or part of town.

    So only the number changed?

Admin fee part of the increase?

Yea I just moved to another house in the same estate! When I told him the difference in the quote I had already received for the previous address he said the best I can do is take 100e off bringing it down to 590. That's still over 70e more expensive between different house numbers. Is there any regulation concerning how quotes are calculated?

No mention of admin fees when I asked for an explanation. surely the first quote would have taken admin fees into account and I'd imagine the change of house number on my records is literally the click of a button. The difference between the 2 is over 170e

Some companies charge 40+ for address changes!

Oh right maybe that's part of it then. 170e seems a bit OTT though!

If they are not willing to drop that after explaining that you are only moving across the road, tell them to stick it up their ass.

Just shop around for a lower quote.

It's because there will be stone throwers and they'll be paying out a lot of windscreen claims.

So the supervisor rang me back today and said the quotes worked out through geocoding and it doesn't matter if it's in the same estate, there's no way to get the same quote as I got when the car was registered to the previous house number. Thankfully I now have a quote elsewhere for 520e anyway so I'm going with that.
