I'm thinking of getting rid of sky. Have been looking at android boxes but there are so many choices, I just don't know what to do. I have eircom bb getting just over 5mb . What boxes would people recommend around the 100-200euro range.
Also where is best to buy from? I was looking at stream free tv Ireland and dream box s. Looking at them as I would like some sort of aftersales support as I don't know much about these as you might have guessed already.
All help and information you have would be great.
    Thanks

Thanks, that's very helpful. With 3000+ posts it's very hard to know where to start. Everyone is talking about different types of boxes and it's a lot of information to absorb.
I just thought there might be someone from the opposite end of the spectrum than you, that might actually be nice and helpful.

Matter of choice really, but if I was you and within the price bracket you are talking about, I'd have a look over on the Amiko Alien 2 thread. It's a great little box that can do many things.;)

Below is a great combination for Android TV and its less than €100 all in!!! I bought it for my mother and with Plex and a few other apps that you need to google it's the bees knees.

    Box - http://m.gearbest.com/tv-box/pp_94469.html

    Remote - http://m.gearbest.com/mice-keyboards/pp_104419.html

And if your wireless router isn't beside the box then use this for LAN connection

    LAN - http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B0084Y9N3O?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00

    You're welcome :)

    Great, thanks very much.
Do the boxes come preloaded with stuff or would I have to set them up myself?

it's a shame that on most of these boxes the wifi performance is dreadful.

Side question to all this, if I have the option I presume it's best to hook the box up via ethernet cable rather than WiFi?

    Thanks

I'm very surprised by the WiFi on the MXQ. The router is 7 metres (2 rooms and 3 walls) away and it works fine with a vodafone router. Definitely more stable though if you can use Ethernet.

The remote above is an air mouse with keyboard so yea there is a cursor on the screen. If you dont move the mouse the cursor disappears after a second or two. The remote that comes with it is junk.

    Thanks everyone.
    Sorry, but another beginner question.
When I buy a box, is there much involved in the installation and set up of it? Do I have to add all the apps separately?

Before you go off buying anything, you should first look at your bb speed. In truth 5mbps is at best borderline for those boxes to give a steady stream. Is there any way you can have the mbps increased. Have you looked at other bb providers. Ideally you should have unlimited downloads.

I ended up getting a mxiii box but I have a few problems. Anything I try to watch us too zoomed in. I can only see the top quarter of whatever I watch. Also I have no sound. Anyone any ideas as to how resolve these problems?
