Anybody able to do a quick tax calculation please, based on a hypothetical situation.

Person helping for 3 hours a week,as required, emergency cover in childcare, paid 30 euro for 3 hours. But then its mentioned they are on the books as a "contractor"

If the person was to get 30 euro for 3 hours, what would the cost be approx. to the business as a proper, stamp paid employee, with the associated charges (if any), i.e. USC, PRSI, etc etc. Only looking for a ball park idea. I'm a bit annoyed they tried this on the poor girl as she is on means test dole and it will bite her on the ass!

(Background is, I was asked by a friend does this sound legit, and I said no. But curious as to what it should cost.
3 hours at 10 an hour should be 30 euro PLUS employees liabilities. The way the place tried to do it as a "contractor" make the girl liable to go self-employed and would end up less than minimum wage.)

3 hours at 10 an hour should be 30 euro PLUS employees liabilities.

If an employer agrees to pay someone €10 per hour then that their gross pay PAYE, PRSI and USC is deducted from that.

The employer would be liable for Employers PRSI @ 8.5% plus holidays.

At €30 per week seems odd to say she is self employed.

PS loose use of the word "hypotothical" in the title
