Wondering if anyone might be able to help.

I am looking at a 12-D reg VW Golf. Its has a fully stamped service book, with 4 services for the 52000 miles on it.

The stamp just reads "German Auto Specialist", there's no address on it.

I Googled and can find nothing.

Would anyone know who this might be?

Probably a rubber stamp from Vista print.

Seriously though, if you cant trace who serviced it I'd take the history as fiction.

Its very easy to fabricate a service book.

If you have any doubts, even in the slightest, walk away. There's plenty more 2012 Golfs about.

True, but this is a local dealer to me, and one with a good reputation. Been in business nearly 50yrs.

Is there anyway of finding out previous owners?

Would be interested to see how this plays out.

Yes will be on the logbook the dealer has. I would imagine service 1 would have been at the main dealer they initially purchased from?

    Miles or km ???

Its an original Irish car, not an import.
I ran a full Motorcheck report on it, and its clear.
The mileage reading is actually in Km, just that I am so used to quoting cars in miles not Kms.

Swarlb, when I googled that company is the only possibility I could find, so I emailed them this morning to ask if they would have any records of havig serviced this particular car. I gave them the reg. Waiting to hear from them.

Chances are the dealer probably bought it either through the trade or from an auction so more than likely hasn't a clue about it's history.

Think Bazz right here, its from down the country and he's a Donegal dealer, so I'm guessing it was bought at auction to similar when he was buying in stock?

I didnt think of that, didnt put together the donegal dublin link.
It can get a small bit annoying seeing where these dealers are getting their cars from. I was looking lately and was surprised on how many were bringing in cars from england. If i wanted an english car i would get my own.

Regarding the ops 'car' Id be inclined to walk away from it , it doesnt feel right.
Service history is questionable. 4 services at 52k miles . Most new cars would be running long life oil which could go from 10k to 20k miles, is the car overserviced.??

I thought it might have been overserviced myself when I was looking through the documentation.

There was a service done late in the 2013 (Oct or Nov, can't remember which), then March of 2014. I thought it seemed strange to be servicing so often, but if it was a company car that doing 25,000 miles a year then perhaps it was getting looked at every 6 months perhaps?

Agree about all the UK cars on the Irish market. I went car hunting for a full day last week, and nearly all the cars from independent dealers were UK imports. Only the main, big name dealers seemed to be stocking Irish cars.

Hard to say isnt it. if it is genuine then i would prefer to see a car overserviced.
Anything you would see on car giant with a FSH would get its first service round 20k miles and these are mostly company cars.
They do say for the long life oil if you are doing city runs , stop starting and so on do it at 10k miles. If you are doing bigger mileage , car is constantly warm and motor way mileage service at 20kmiles.
A friend was looking to buy a diesel avensis and went to one dealer (dont know whether main or indie) , he had an english avensis , the salesman said they couldnt stand by or warrant the milage

Normally a company car would not be serviced by an independent garage, they tend to be serviced by main dealers. You would imagine a 2012 car would have at least been serviced by a main dealer once.

As for UK imports, lots of dealers including main dealers are selling them because they have a wide variety to chose from compared to Irish cars and if buying them by the transporter load at a time they have more purchasing power. Main dealers will generally buy them through the same brand dealer network over there while smaller dealers tend to buy at auction. Also if the car you were looking at was a UK import there is a strong chance there would be more information available about it unlike some Irish cars that have a stamp by a place that may or may not exist.
