Longer BE bus commutes?

Has anyone else noticed the longer commutes in and out of Dublin by bus in the mornings/evenings? I'm specifically talking about Bus Eireann on the N3. I travel in from Meath but have noticed an increase in the time it takes to get in and out of the city. One of the areas I've noticed this specifically is on the Cabra Road to Doyle's corner in the mornings. It can sometimes take 10-20 minutes to get through this ½ km route!

Are there more cars on the road? Is it to do with traffic light sequencing? I understand that it's the school/college period, but still it seems to be adding an extra half hour onto my morning and evening journey compared to last year.

It is quite simply down to an increase in traffic. That partially stretch just can't coupe with the volume going through it. Also since there is no bus lane until you get to the mater turn there isn't much you can do about.

All they could do is remove parking on the street at certain times of the day and turn those parking spaces into a bus lane but residents wont like it one bit!

There's a bus lane that's less than 100m before St Peter's Church, which is pointless really!

Would it be preposterous to suggest continuing this bus lane all the way to Doyle's corner?

The upturn in the economy, unemployment is falling more people are commuting and the reduction in the DB and BE fleet is really showing and making public transport less reliable so encouraging people to use their cars which in turn makes public transport even more unreliable and around we go again.

Train from M3 Parkway might be worth a go then.
