    Hi all,

I want to know what are the best sidelights bulbs (LED, xenon etc) that I could use to drive in the day without switching on the dipped beam. I would like the colour to be about 5000-6000K. I was thinking about a set of LEDs from halfords that give 6000K. What do ye think?

    Thanks.

Why wouldn't you want the dipped beam on?

Why do people have to answer questions with questions!?

I got Halfords Ultra Brilliance 120% as a dipped bulbs + Xenon Ring Ultima for my high-beam.

    I am looking for sidelights.

Do you need them to be really bright? Like DRLs?

If so, look for CREE LEDs with as many LEDs as possible on the unit.

Check that you have room in the cluster for a larger sized LED unit though

I heard the LED's are illegal but I wonder why... Anyways, I don't want them to be super bright so it will blind others but just to highlight the beauty of my 307 :)

    LEDs aren't illegal.

They aren't bright enough to blind/dazzle anyone, don't worry.
Halfords won't have what you need.

This is the sort of stuff you need

OP, what do you mean by sidelights? Generally cars have parking lights, dipped beam and main beam. The more modern ones have daytime running lights. (I'm purposely ignoring fog lights on pain of forum ban)

Parking lights are only 5W bulbs and dipped are 55W so if you want more light, turn on your dipped lights.

    Sidelights=parking lights
    both terms are correct.

Nct manual lists them as side lights rather than parking lights.

Sidelights - parking lights (position 1 on the headlight switch).

LED's are not illegal at all as my car has LED headlights, as in there is only LED's in the light units. If they were illegal, they would not come factory fitted to Fords, Audi, Seat etc.

Halfords packaging said they were for off-road and show use only so I just wonder.. Anyways, I found something like this:

Halfords ones are overpriced and not that bright.
CREE LEDs are what you need to get. They're a little more expensive.

That's exactly what I was looking for. Many thanks :)

Just thinking, your car might throw up a blown bulb warning if you fit LEDs. Do some research on that.

These are expensive but might be what you want

That would probably be because they're tinted to emit a coloured light (i.e. not white light).
The only colour permitted for side lamps is white (or yellow if the side lamp is incorporated into a yellow tinted headlamp).

It is 6000K so it is rather white than blue-ish. I had blue angel eyes in my old Toledo and it passed NCT without any hassle.

Ham fords stuff comes in generic packaging, same packaging for blue/green/pink/white LEDs, hence the warning.
