What flooring with beech cabinets?

We currently have a kitchen with beech coloured cabinets and a dark grey counter top. We're getting the wall between the dining room and kitchen removed and a matching island added to the centre of the newly opened up room.

The flooring of course needs to be replaced (we currently have white tiles in the kitchen and horrible Lino in the dining room) and I want one type of flooring for the whole room. I hate tiles with a passion so that is not an option. I've been looking into laminate/wooden flooring (of a type that is suitable for kitchens) but I'm not sure what colour at all, I feel like any wood colour with the wooden effect cabinets will be too "woody" looking if you know what I mean? I thought about white laminate type flooring but I'm afraid it will look grubby easily (one of my big gripes with tiles).

I've no idea if there are any other options or I'm mistaken about the new room looking too "woody" with wooden flooring. Any suggestions?

How about a bleached, stained (French Grey) or white washed wooden floor. It'll reduced the potential for a 'woody' look. Or go with a very dark Wenge floor, which has very little grain is so far apart from the tones of the beech that they won't compete.

I was thinking of a white kind of one yes, I'm not a big fan of the ones that are made to look worn though. I haven't come across grey flooring but that might work as the rest of the downstairs is a bit grey (the sitting room will be painted cream/white with grey carpet and a couch and the downstairs will have the ability to be open plan due to pocket doors)

The Wenge flooring is lovely - definitely worth considering. Thanks for the suggestion!

I have been looking at stuff online and wooden floors with wooden cabinets doesn't seem to be the worse thing you can do, some of it can look quite nice but I'm still not sure what to do.

Once you've considered the issue of balance, i.e. making sure space isn't overwhelmed by one material or feature, it all comes down to personal taste. Maybe a supplier can arrange for you to see the combination you're considering, which would help make the decision.

I've got beech cabinets in the kitchen and went with grey laminate floor (Kronotex Prestige Oak). It looks fab

Not cheeky, just a bit difficult as my mobile takes crappy photos and colours are a bit...a lot...off. But anyway

Don't mind the lack of plinths, it's still work in progress
