    Hi,

We're thinking of booking Fota for our wedding next year and just wondering if anybody had heard any good or bad stories about the venue as we haven't been to a wedding there ourselves.

Also if anybody who has booked with them had any tips on negotiating with them as they're a little on the pricey side and if theres anything we could ask them to include or exclude that would be great!

    Thanks in advance!

Don't have any help with prices etc but was there as a wedding guest last year and lived it. Definitely one of the nicer hotels for a wedding. There were gorgeous sandwiches and finger food on arrival, the dinner was lovely (almost too nice, we were stuffed for ages after!). It was an autumn wedding so was lovely in the room with the fires lit etc.

I've not heard any bad reports, to be honest. The staff there are absolutely top notch and you could be assured that your day will run perfectly. The attention to detail is outstanding.

I don't think they'll budge much on prices, because there's no need for them to, from their perspective. But they may be flexible in certain regards. I know of one couple who traded the gym membership included in the package for a choice of starters, so you could do things like that.

I was at a wedding there in 2011, it's a great venue, lovely lobby/reception area, good ballroom for meal and dancing although would be nicer in summer than autumn I feel, I thought the bar where the pre-meal drinks were served was a little dark and sombre but it could be to do with the fact it was September! We were mixed in with another wedding in the resident's bar but can't do much about that I suppose as it's not an exclusive venue. They have a great play room for kids there.

    Thanks for your replies!

The food and staff really impressed us when we were at the wedding showcase so great to hear that thats the norm.

We're pretty much set on the place but its nice to hear feedback from people who've been to weddings there.

Now just to pay the deposit and organise all the other bits and pieces :)
