Problem with boot (Passat Estate)

    Hi all,

    Car: VW Passat Estate 07 1.9D

    Strange problem started last week. My boot keeps on opening automatically soon as I start the car the light comes on to show that the boot is open on the dashboard.

    Now its not fully opening but it is definitely open just a little bit. I had to replace my car battery this weekend as the car was dead come Saturday morning I knew something was up as during the week when starting the car it wasn't starting a smoothly as it use to.

    I'm just wondering if these two things are connected? Would you start seeing issues like the boot when the battery is on its way out? Or did the issue with the boot cause the battery to drain?

    It is still happening after I replaced the battery yesterday so not sure what to do next other than bring it into a garage to get it looked at.

    Any ideas? Is it expensive to get fixed?
