I'm looking to get tivusat. It states the dish needs to be pointing at hot bird.

Is there an easy way to establish where the dish is currently pointing?

I have an old sky hd box i could hook up if it makes it any easier.

Also if anyone could recommend an installer to adjust the dish to hotbird in the Cork area?

If I plug a loaner sky box in. I can get BBC's and some other UK channels.

Does this mean I'm looking at Astra currently?

a sky box will not work for hotbird

in addition your sky dish if 60cm is too small for hotbird you will need a minimum of 80cm

you are currently pointed at astra 28 degrees and need to be at hotbird 13 east

Tivu is the italian version of freesat in the uk you need a dedicated tivu satellite receiver. However you will get some italian FTa channels on hotbird 13.

i will send you a pm reinstaller in cork

Long story short , the main terrestrial channels are FTA on satellite but not in HD

Tivusat will give you HD versions of some of those terrestrial channels. You also get some terrestrial channels that aren't FTA on satellite.

Like here you need a subscription for premium / sports channels.

use http://www.dishpointer.com/ to find your location and compare 28.2E which you are on with 13E

Tivusat is bit of a scam in that the card will work in most receivers that have a card slot but you can't buy the card on it's own. You have to buy it with a receiver. It would be like having to buy a Skybox if you just wanted a UK FTV card. And to do it officially you have to have an Italian PPS number. Like the UK FTV card in the past third parties are bypassing this restriction , but charging for it.

    List of TivuSat channels http://en.kingofsat.net/pack-tivusat.php

RAI 1/2/3 are clear in SD, Tivusat gives you HD
RAI 3 is the one from Rome
10992 V , 27500-2/3 IIRC a SKY Box could do this through other channels but it's painful , Second hand FTA boxes are half nothing

    Rete 4 / Canale 5 / Italia 1 are FTA in SD on 11373 H NB. signal rate is 29900 FEC3/4
SKY boxes can't do this, and on other older boxes you may need to edit the transponder manually with the new signal rate

For some reason I didn't pick them up on 11919 V 27500-2/3 this week.
