In the bilder geshickt, in the first German Language School story, in the last picture the teacher has a pun on the blackboard. "arbeit macht frue(n)de" Has anyone thought of the connotations that it has with "Arbeit macht frei" which was over the gate of the Auschwitz death camp" Every German I've mentioned it to, instantly makes the connection and is horrified. I don't know who sets these curricula but they haven't the faintest idea about German culture.

It says Deutsch macht Freunde - I think you are the one reading things into it.

Yes you are correct it says Deutch mach Freu(n)de, a pun on Freude and Freunde. It wasn't me who noticed the connection ( got the pun), it was a 17 year old who was giggling over it with her friends. Not desirable.
