Should have probably bought it in the Steam sale. Anyone have it?

€29.99 on Steam, seriously considering it. Also considering Blackguards 2, Blackguards wasnt much loved but I liked it.

Have it on my wishlist, but will wait for it to be reduced again before buying (missed the sale). I'm nearly sure from reading the sale thread that someone here did buy it alright.

Absolutely fantastic game. A must-buy if you are a civ fan. One of the best 4x games I've ever played.

The combat is the only really weak side of it. Most of the rest is excellent - unit upgrading/outfitting is great, city management is in-depth and style-wise I really like it.

It is well worth having. I have put about 50 hours into it so far and I love it. I play mostly multiplayer games with a few friends and find it is a nice break from civ. A lot less complicated but still has in depth features such as hero and unit customisation.

What don't you like about it? Not being funny but I doubt you spent very long playing it correctly since you only just got it this morning. It's a 4x game and requires a lot of patience and time to understand and play it.

It's a damn fine game in my opinion.

I'll give it another go today. Kinda resigned to not getting the refund, too complicated on Steam.

Just had a bad first impression really. The combat is bizarre to say the least - why is it not turn based? The instructions system is strange.

Why does every race I come into contact with automatically attack me?

Why is research so quick but construction painfully slow?

I don't think this has any depth really.despite that being one of its selling points. In fact, kinda want a game of CIV now.

    It's addictive!

Picked it up in last steam sale, spent 40 hours on just 2 games.

I bought it a few days ago, but haven't put much time in yet. Will get stuck in over the weekend, as i fancy some 4X fun after Beyond Earth was so disappointing.

I liked parts of BE, but it didn't really make me want to go back and play once I'd gotten each if the different affinity victories.

The play style in endless legend is really different depending on faction selected, makes each game quite varied.

I got a refund too, i like CIV and generally 4x games - but that was atrociously hard to learn - i gave up after an hour of trying to figure out the basics, explained as much to steam and they refunded me in around 20 minutes

Awh ****! I never got the refund.

Guess I put almost as much effort into that as I did to the game. It was ****.

Anyone pick up the Guardians expansion. Adds a fair deal more to the game, including wonders and these big ass Guardians. Still on my first game with the expansion, but enjoying it.

It was a pleasant surprise last year when I picked this up after BE. I don't even think it looks like it can be saved, with the new expansion.

Brilliant game hope they are making a sequel, i loved the insect faction and the one that can only have one city and story arcs for them were great.

Looks like they're making a sequel to Endless Space, possibly called Amplified Reality. Never played the first one myself....

In regards to Endless Legend, I think there's room for a few more expansions.

I stuck a fair few hours into it but for TBS games 30 hours isn't a whole lot. By no means do I regret getting it but it was something I picked up and put down without being hugely impacted.

I think the level of focus that each race has, the lack of units and the small tech tree makes for pretty shallow gameplay.

I really like the districts idea, the way the questing and pacification of lesser civs work and the sheer volume of resources you harvest (giving you massive latitude in how you build and focus your cities) but it's not enough to drive the core gameplay on.
The way combat plays out is possibly a better solution than Civs 1 unit per tile as well, or at least there's elements to it that ought to be taken on board.

They're things I'd love for Civ to explore with it's greater complexity.

Maybe I'm being unfair in comparing it to the champion of the genre or maybe my biases from playing civ are leading me to play it the wrong way, but it was little more than a brief diversion for me.

I absolutely loved this game when I started it up. The inerface and design are the most beautiful I have seen in the genre and I felt the diplomacy was far greater than most other systems in place but the core combat and expansion is completely shallow so despite a great start it plummets into stale very quickly.

    All fair points.

    Combat is boring.

But the quests and lore were fantastic

I have only really played a little bit of this, I can't quite get my head around the mechanics cause I think I've played way too much Civ :) Not really knowing the meta of what I want to work towards or when's a good time to make a push etc is really frustrating too. Time to hit the YouTubes and learn I suppose.

I love Civ 5. Therefore I love 4x games right? That's what has gone through my head anytime a decent looking 4x game has come out.

I've bought Endless legend, Endless Space, Age of Wonders 3, Civ : Beyond Earth and Fallen Enchantress.

Playing any of these games just kinda make me want to play Civ 5 as opposed to playing them.

Fallen Enchatress is propobably my favourite of the lot. I felt it nailed the combat that Age of Wonders and Endless Legend just didn't quite get. The 'overworld/politics/look of Endless Legend really is great though and I like how every race is diverse.

I really enjoyed Fallen Enchantress. There is such a glut, however, of entirely mediocre 4x fantasy games that I've tried and hated that I've grown very sceptical.
