Going to Prague tomorrow and could use the extra space. I have a non rigid backpack which is a small bit too big for the 35x20x20 but could I physically force it into a frame? Say if it wasnt too full or would they simpily say it dosnt fit?
    Cheers

Bring luggage that does not exceed the dimensions, no wonder there are delays etc when passengers don't abide to very simple terms laid out by the airline.

Most of the time they test using a cardboard box these days, it expands slightly

Better still don't fly with FR.

Maybe too late for this trip but invest is a soft backpack which meets their rules.
They stop everyone with hard bags at the bottom of the stairs and they get thrown in to the luggage compartment underneath which means you have to have to wait around for the luggage conveyor and lose all the advantages of having carry on luggage.

Haven't seen Ryanair checking bag size in a while now. If its close enough you'll probably be alright.

over xmas they were waiting at the bottom of the stairs and taking carry on luggage off people even if it was within dimensions.
secret of success is to make it look small squashable and light.

I flew during the week to London and they were checking so many peoples luggage, first when we were in line at the gate, then more at the bottom of the stairs.

If you're worried about being slightly oversized and happy for it to be taken in the hold without checked baggage fees, wait till most all of the passengers have boarded before joining the queue and in their haste to turn the flight around, they'll approach you in the queue and take your bag to the hold before you hand over your boarding pass to be scanned.
