    Hello,
I am flying back from JFK to Dub mid Feb & I was just checking the flights there and I my flight number is 'EI0108' & on their website when you go into make a booking it says for this flight 'Air Contractors for Aer Lingus Boeing 757'

I have had a bit of a look and this flights seems to be a smaller plane than the the one we will be flying over on. Should I change flights to an earlier one for more comfort as it doesn't seem to be an contracted flight!

What does an air contractor even mean!? ....

    Any advice appreciated.

aer lingus lease planes from air contractors from time to time while their own planes are in for repair/touch up etc.

i flew on an air contractors plane to new york last year and honestly you couldn't tell the difference. it was a little smaller than the airbus aer lingus usually fly to the states but nothing that should put you off. the entertainment choice was better on the air contractors plane. the cabin was designed to mimic an aer lingus one and all the flight crew were aer lingus. the only way you could tell it wasn't an aer lingus plane was the fact it said "air contractors" near the door.

The A330's are a nicer place to be for sure, but it's a relatively short flight OP & an itinerary change is going to cost you (unless you're booked on a flex fare).

Aer Lingus have leased 3 757s from Air Contractors. This quite normal and something like half of Aer Lingus' planes are leased anyway. The Air Contractors' leases are short term ones which is why they don't have the full 100% branding that the other leased planes have.

So zero to worry about, no difference apart from being a bit smaller as noted.

    Enjoy your trip.

Republic of Ireland national carrier Aer Lingus has confirmed it has reached an agreement to damp lease three Boeing 757-200s to expand its transatlantic activities during the first half of 2014. The aircraft will be acquired via Air Contractors and the first jet is expected to enter service in January 2014 the 757s will be based at Shannon Airport and will be used to expand the carrier’s existing offering, increasing the existing seasonal services to Boston and New York and potentially freeing up a larger Airbus A330-200 to operate from Dublin, where demand is stronger.

The aircraft leased from Air Contractors are entirely Aer Lingus branded, aside from a small sticker saying operated by Air Contractors (it is flown by their crew)

To the average punter the only difference is it is a single aisle aircraft rather than twin aisle

    Its an
    Aer Lingus liveried plane
    Aer Lingus green interior
    Aer Lingus cabin crew
    Aer Lingus catering

Only difference is the plane flown & maintained by Air Contractors who are an Irish licensed carrier who have been around quite a long time. They are the 3rd largest Irish operator, City Jet is the 4th.

Its a 757, its the same plane nearly every other carrier uses to US from Ireland. In flight entertainment is actually better than the 330 fleet
