Insurance prices way up?

My boss got his renewal on thursday and it was up about 300 euro, he rang them up fuming and was told they could knock 45 euro off it so he declined and started getting quotes online. He is 36 with 5 years ncb and a full irish license for over ten years, the best he could get was around 600 euro. The renewal was 800 up from 500. I thought this was strange and got a quote with 123 and it came in at 1000! I haven't had my own insurance for a few years i was last insured on an rx7 with 124 for under 300 euro and the quote for 1000 was on a 1.9 tdi golf, i put in 5 years ncb as a named driver, not sure how much of a difference that would make but it seems like its gone a bit nuts. My renewal on my motorbike is coming up in a few weeks and with 1 years ncb im going to be paying about 550 euro on a cbr600 which seems a lot more reasonable.

123.ie is no longer a multi quote generator. They are 100% tied to RSA and only offer quotes from RSA.

Not sure if any online company is providing multi quote services. Seems to have gone backwards.

I've heard a lot of people complaining about increased prices this year.

Check out the extras that are added to the policy to see if anything has been added such as legal fees etc.

I think the AA still do,

Mine seemed to go nuts this year too, Paid 522 last year with Zurich but my renewal came in at 842 a rise of 320. Even after shopping around the best I could get was 640 a rise of 188. Quotes seem to be all over the place too with everything from 640 to 1700.

Oh, I thought they were an insurance company themselves. Must check them out.

Mine went down and I got them to include full NCB protection where as last year I had step back.

    30, full NCB, fully comp, 02 318Ci, Dublin 3 for €502 with 123.ie

My dad's quote was insane this year, he is late 50s driving an Avensis, no claims ever and was quoted over €800! I'm paying just over €300 on a Saxo, he is in Dublin but it's still a silly price, I can't remember what company it was tbh but he won't be staying with them over this!

Insurance companies take you for a ride, I had a quote for over £1000 gbp for the is250, (was paying about £500-600 but have quite a few points), I rang around and found another place for a price similar to what I used to pay.

I just renewed mine with Allianz. Down 13 euro from last year. Although i did shop around and the cheapest i was getting from other companies was 675 with FBD and 707 with AIG( if you download some tracker app it was 494) 123 were ajoke at 1150:-)

Quoteme.ie is another, haven't used them myself so can't give an opinion but their website says that they compare prices from 14 different insurers.

My quote for a 2.2l Honda Accord was 800 last year and it went up to 1100 this year. Male, 29, 4 years NCB and 4 years full licence. I was pretty pissed off and rang them up to see what the story was, the guy on the phone fired off a paragraph about all premiums going up due to the high number of claims in the past year.

    2006 Ford Mondeo 1.8 petrol.

Full no claims bonus, 40 year old male.

    350 euro from coverinaclick.ie.

    Down about 17 euro.

For some reason having your wife/partner on the policy makes it considerably cheaper, to have my ex removed from it would see an increase of 73 euro!
