    Hi

Got a 2nd hand wii for Xmas. While loading the most recent just dance disk it says to update the firmware. But when I attempt this it fails.

Original owner subsequently mentioned they installed "something". I have tried a reset without any success.

Anybody know how to get it updated so the kids can play justdance

    Thanks

    W

What was the something? Homebrew? Soft mod? A chip? You might need a custom updater to get your channels an IOSs in order

Don't think it was a chip. Said he installed it.. So some form of software. Is there any way to find out?

    Thanks

Probably made a balls of softmodding the Wii for homebrew. It can be fixed but it's very complicated. You need to install the homebrew channel on the Wii then download software that will let you change the firmware back to the official nintendo firmware... and even then it can raise some complications.

Prob be easier to 'virginise' the Wii, & do the softmod again if desired.

Do you mean bring it back to factory firmware? That would do me as the kids are only getting into the console with the discs/games we have so no need to be modding...

So how do I make a virgin out of her!!;)

    Thanks in advance

Yes, 'virginise' in this case is to restore the Wii to how it was leaving the factory :) To do that though, you'll need to know a few things. 1) What firmware is the Wii currently on (4.1E, 4.2E, 4.3E?) 2) Has it been soft modded, or hard modded (ie, does it have a mod chip?)
