    Voter apathy, people not engaging politically...
    Most of us on here can agree that the democratic process would be better served by more public involvement.
    Again today we see an article;

    Tribunal withdraws corruption findings against Ray Burke
    http://www.irishtimes.com/news/politics/tribunal-withdraws-corruption-findings-against-ray-burke-1.2076127

    What ever side of the political spectrum you find yourself, you can see how somebody coming across this story would come to the conclusion that there is no point in getting involved. If you've money and connections, you live in a different Ireland to the majority of tax payers.

    We know there have been a great number of corrupt politicians over the decades, (Dev to present day) people guilty of using the state and it's people as rubes to fleece. Apart from the odd fine, these people have made millions off the Irish. We never see any clear justice. With developments like todays, with shyster Burke on the make again, how can we expect anyone on the political periphery to take a keen interest in a state which seems to reward the cute hoor? It seems to be a case of make as much money as you can while in power and scratch the right backs, be it in business or Europe, to ensure a cushy position or windfall after public office. Very sad.
