A new club is being set-up in Ashbourne, "Ash Burners". It will be UCI affiliated.

They will be holding their first two spins on Saturday 24th and Sunday 25th meeting at the retail park outside the cinema at 10am.

Anyone wishing to come along will need to have a current UCI licence.

The intention is to do 2 x 25 km loops on each day.

The pace will be fairly easy.

    Probably not.

After strong early growth they will probably dieback....

    Best of luck OP

Ashbourne bodies should stick with Ratoath Wheelers if they don't want to mix sport & politics.

Once it's received the required approval from CI of course...

Really? do they have to be approved by CI?
A few of us were thinking of a new kit - nothing rude on the kit or anything (not like the lads there in the OGE video for stage 4 of the TDU for example :) )

    From the Technical Rules

    Section G1 14
All clubs wishing to affiliate to Cycling Ireland must submit the proposed club name and the proposed design of their club jersey with their initial application to Cycling Ireland for approval and registration. Subsequent proposed changes will also require prior approval by Cycling Ireland.
There are also specific rules on sponsorship and the size and number of logos permitted

First two weekends under our belts and things seem to be going really well. Lat weekend we did two spins of just over 30 km each and this weekend we were able to split into two groups with one going for a 50 km loop and the second repeating one of the routes from last week.

Support has been really strong with new guys showing up all the time.

Discussions are ongoing regarding kit but a couple of sponsors have already been secured.

As soon as you have paid CI for your license you are covered but if you have not done that you would be ok for a couple of spins with us to see if you want to join or not.

We are going out on Saturday and Sunday again this weekend, setting-off at about 10am from the retail park by the cinema.

    DRESS WARM!
