Punching bag

Hey guys,

Just checking in case anyone is aware of good deals or anything. I'm looking to get a heavy bag, just for a bit of fun cardio at home. W old like a long one I can kick and punch, anyone aware of any good deals on these at the moment? Or any recommendations on where to get one?

Would you want to hang it from the ceiling or the wall? Ceiling is much better but not always possible, I got a good wall bracket myself off ebay last year

It will be outside anyway, no room in the house, have a big tree with nice horizontal branches for canvas straps or I may go the whole hog and get a wall bracket.

Am renting though so wall bracket would have to be cleared with landlord

This is the one I got ebayIt's installed by 3 screws, about 6/7cms long, and holds up well in any decent wall. You need to pick a good spot to leave yourself enough room for kicks though.

Unless you get a top quality hanging bag it will become degraded by the weather after a few months and the stitching will suffer wear. Also some bags get worn by rubbing against the wall, and can sometimes leave worn patches on the wall itself. I'm sure you're landlord would not appreciate that.

Have you considered a free standing bag?? Handy for use outdoors as you can get decent covers for them and you don't need to screw a bracket into the wall.

Few bags of sand from a garden centre to fill the base and bobs your uncle.

I got one off Argos and it broke after a couple of uses.

If you're hitting it any way hard I wouldn't bother. Clear it with your landlord t to hang a good bag, if you're worried about the wall behind it a sheet of Plexiglas will do the trick. If you're worried about wear on the bag, go old school and get a roll of duct tape

Check out the wavemaster powerwave. I picked this up a few months ago and I find it decent. Neater than the free-hanging options on the stands. Good amount of weight in the base and is height adjustable. They are not cheap though, but you will pay for a decent set-up.
