Just heard it mentioned on the Co-Optional podcast that a game called Void Destroyer has come out of early access.
I'm always a sucker for RTS' and Space RTS' even more so.

I had gander in the search option and I spotted that Overheal had played the game.

Anyone else know anything about it?

Looks interesting. Seems hugely ambitious to roll the RTS and flight sim into one.

I remember being awed by the in-cockpit view that Blackdog Studios introduced in Homeworld: Cataclysm and it gave you an amazing perspective of the battles, but to be actually able to control them is a whole different ball game.

My biggest concern would be the UI for it - marrying two already unwieldy genres seems like a recipe for disaster.

Holy crap that looks amazing. Its like Homeworld, Freespace and Borderlands had a baby...

Not sure i wan't to try it though, as i'm very turned off early access. Too many games being 'released' with almost no features, and just ends up ruining the experience for me. Will check it out later and see what sort of features it currently offers though.

It's gotten solid reviews on Steam with particular mention to the dev being particularly involved and consistent progress made since it was first launched in early access.

It was fully released a couple of days ago and seems to be having a launch sale. It's currently a pretty reasonable €11.24.

It's interesting seeing it's requirements - they seem strangely low.
Particularly, the HD space required is only 500MB which seems odd to me for a game on this scale.
I guess the cell shaded art style helps with that?

It'll live and die by the interface and how well the campaign explores the mechanics.

I'd be surprised if it's a particularly gripping story, like Homeworld was, or if there is any sort of multiplayer involved given the probability of a small user base.

Well damn ye anyway, I swore that I won't be getting any new games until at least March, but this has definitely got my attention.

It's actually going a bit cheaper on the Humble store at the minute.
